About the place

Borkum, the largest and westernmost of the East Frisian Islands,  is a paradise for guests with pollen allergies and respiratory ailments. Tempered by the Gulf Stream, the island enjoys a mild climate year-round, and the air is particularly low in pollen yet rich in iodine.

Borkum has been a recognized North Sea spa since 1850. Because of its oceanic climate, it has a long tradition in the treatment of respiratory ailments. Healing treatments are offered by many providers, such as “Gezeitenland-Wasser und Wellness”. Nature is Borkum's treasure and shield. Since 1986, Borkum has been part of Lower Saxony Wadden Sea National Park, which was declared a World Heritage natural site by UNESCO in 2009.
